Fringe Outdoor Arts

WATCH THIS SPACE

Nothing came back just the same after the pandemic, and nobody needs to be surprised that summer 2022 isn’t just a re-run of what should have happened in 2020: to do that would even be wrong. The artistic ecology and particularly the funding landscape has changed. This year, Bath Fringe didn’t get  grants for which we previously had a pretty good success record. That money usually pays for our free outdoor arts events, Bedlam Fair. As it’s jubilee weekend and we’re told there’s lots else on, perhaps you won’t even miss us – and we promise we’ll be pulling out all the stops to make sure it happens next year.

There are a handful of outdoor events we know about happening on that same weekend supported by other funding and not part of our programming:

Calf2Cow are a young post-Bath-Spa outdoor theatre company based in the city. They will be showing their hour-long outdoor theatre piece ‘The Wave’ (suitable for all ages) as part of Bath Spa Uni’s SPARKFEST on Stall Street on Sunday June 5th at 2pm. More details here.

In association with the Bath Arts Workshop book & FAB, there may be an incursion of a classic Arts Workshop on Sunday 5th in the city centre. Be prepared!

BUT our friends the Natural Theatre Co. are doing this in Radstock on the Saturday:

Free outdoor arts event with a family friendly atmosphere. Finest theatrical acts, silly spectacle, quirky comedy and Bath’s very own Natural Theatre. Community stage showcasing the very best of our local talent; local stalls, food and have-a-go creative workshops during the day.

Why not cycle from Bath to Radstock for the day through the Two Tunnels Path? It’s a glorious ride!

Radstock Jubilee Festival is delivered in partnership with Youth Connect South West, Creativity Works, The Natural Theatre Company, Age UK Bath & North East Somerset, & Radstock Town Council.
